Yesterday was the eve of Deepavali (Indian Holiday) and my friend asked me to go to Resorts World Sentosa with him to check out the games. I am not a huge fan of live games as you all know, with my bad experiences in Macau and running like crap all the time.
I would usually say no but I was feeling really bored last night. I think boredom often makes me make stupid life decisions. I was down 2k earlier when I played on Stars so I felt like making some money back.
Rake and Expenses
I had to pay the $100 levy + $50 2way cab ride + 5% rake capped at $50. Very expensive and not profitable at all.
Game
The majority of players there were Singaporeans with the occasional Chinese tourist. It’s very similar to Macau, though you are likelier to hear some other local dialects instead of Cantonese
I think the 10/20 games were softer than the 50/100 at Wynn but still not very good with like 2 decent regs, a bunch of tight passive donks and 1 big donkey (who only spewed his money to one other guy).
As usual I got the worst position at the table, with the 2 regs on my left. Not a very nice thing to have. I suspect they were 3betting me and bluff raising me in some spots but I always had pure air. Not having enough money to keep on reloading was also another big issue (ATM limits me to a 2k withdrawal), though I could have borrowed from my friend.
I lost around 2k SGD (1.6k USD), mostly losing medium pots of around 30bb-40bb on multiple occasions.
I finally managed to regain access to my account and my 20k was still nice and intact. Proceeded to withdraw about half of it cos leaving too much money online isn’t such a great idea after the scare from Black Friday.
Thoughts on FTP:Many of them are playing with 2011 styles. I assumed many of the strongest NL200 Zoom regs at Stars caught on to a lot of new plays from mid-stakes (or a lot of them just mix and play 500 or midstakes tables). Maybe the good players aren’t there. I’m not sure. What I do know is that despite my limited sample size on most of the players (cos I am the type of guy who clears my database regularly), it was easy playing against them.
1) I think Flop call seems standard when villain rarely has 2pairs + and has so many gutshots. The turn was supposed to make me happy but wasn’t that thrilled cos I knew I blocked KQ and KJ which means it was way more likely for him to have QJ.

I had some nice results last month, mostly from NL200 Zoom. I only played on Stars and made 17k, with approximately 4k in RB. Lost 5k at 500, made 17k at NL200 Zoom, 5k at HU. I believe that I was the top winner at NL200 for the month of October but I can’t be entirely sure since there isn’t PTR now.

these days i only play headsup on my mobile and pretty much play vs regs only
but i came up with a pretty ingenious idea/strat.
i buy in for only 80bb and limp twice. that will make the reg assume im a passive fish for the next 30min. after that my opppnent will start to make exploitative plays with obvious bet sizing tells which will then allow me to move him off his hands when hes weak
I played for almost 6.5 hours today. Quite high volume for Monday standards. I usually don’t play that much on weekdays. Was hoping to get 8d 8h but I had bad luck with getting that hand to showdown.
1) I isoraised this reg who is a pretty solid player. I immediately thought he had 8h 8d and typed that in chat. He said “yeah, please let me to get showdown”. I decided to be the nice guy (cos I would hope that others do the same for me) and allowed him to win his 500. After the hand I asked him to ship 50 bucks back to me cos I would have 3-barreled him. He gave me some bullshit reason about balancing his limping range and how he was prepared to calldown 3 streets which was total bullshit cos if I did not say anything in chat I would definitely 3barrel on this runout and it’s impossible for him to calldown 88 on this 4 straight runout. I was 50-70% sure he had 88 and I would have trusted in my read (cos I don’t believe regs open limp in SB). Stupid cheapo 🙂

Lost 800 today. Had opponents make massive mistakes against me but I also made many on my own. Theme of today – Overplaying vs Nits
1) This is against a very splashy 29/25/15 reg. My preflop min5bet is superior to a shove simply because of how air heavy this guy is. I think there’s a good chance he spazz shoves a lot of hands. I’m also going to be bluff 5betting here a lot. Flop sucks and I think he not only has many QX hands, but also a lot of 1/2 club hands.
Turn is great for me but he check/raises all-in. It’s a really close spot for me when I’m getting 26% pot odds. I assumed he shoves all combos of KcQ and AcJ (optimistic), while having all combos of AQo (pessimistic since he should shove a lot preflop)

3) This is vs a 17/12/7 nit. My default plan would be to call the 3bet here. I thought that I should just get it in given that his 3betting here is around 8-9% which was enough for a stack off. However there were 2 other issues that I forgot to consider
a. SPR is larger than usual – I made a minraise and he makes a tiny 3bet. My 4bet was 2.5X the 3bet but is still very small at only 15 BB. As a result I was only getting 42% pot odds facing the 5bet shove. That’s not even enough to call it off against TT+/AQ+ (40% equity with TT).
b. This guy has a wide 3bet range but he has a tight 5bet range
This made my play really bad.

7) In the past i used to make this play a lot, didn’t turn out too well. Over here I feel that at NL100 people don’t slowplay preflop as much. I think TT is great to backraise here, 99 is already borderline and 88 is just bad. I don’t expect villain to fold TT and 99 here because I rep 77-99 a lot when I take this line. Should probably just fold. Not to forget that BB could be strong some % of the time. I would have definitely backraised if other guy folded though.

Had a great winning day today. Already up for the month and recovered all my losses. I also started playing PLO again. This time I will only play PLO50 Zoom first. I’m not sure how tough PLO100 is, but since it’s the highest limit I assume it will be significantly tougher. PLO50 is a complete joke – The players there are freaking horrible and hilariously bad.

6) You don’t fold to 3bets most of the time in Omaha (unless you have some shitty paired hand or if you have a weak AXXX hand vs someone who only 3bets AAXX) . I have 40% equity in this 3way pot with my 13 out wrap (5/8/9/T). BB shouldn’t 3bet this sort of hand when he’s short stacked. I suppose UTG should call BB’s bet but when I raise I think he’s crushed.

7) On the Turn I think no one has a King, esp the CO (being 3rd to act). On the River I was a little afraid that he may somehow have a slowplayed KX hand (I felt it wasn’t that likely but maybe he could have it 25-30% of the time) so I turned my 2 into a bluff by repping the flush on the River (with my Ace of heart). Funny how he called so my bluff turned out being a value bet. I think these guy doesn’t realize that he doesn’t have a fullhouse.
